| Lake Tahoe Facts
Lake Tahoe is not only a beautiful
place to live. It is also a Full-Service Community.
Many visitors are surprised to learn that we have hospitals, doctors, our own
college, an airport, nursing homes, community service organizations, many churches,
a library, pool and recreation complex, in addition to recreational opportunities
including ski areas, golf courses, tennis courts, and much more.
Lake
Tahoe is the largest, most beautiful and pristine
alpine lake in North America. The California/Nevada
state line runs vertically through the middle
of the Lake. The City of South Lake Tahoe is
on the South Shore.
The
South Shore has a population of about 40,000.
Below is a map of the Lake Tahoe region.

Getting to Lake Tahoe
Driving
times from the San Francisco Bay Area vary but
given normal traffic conditions and clear roads,
most folks figure on spending between 3.5 and 4.5
hours to drive to Lake Tahoe. Bring tire chains
in winter months.
The
Reno's International Airport is less than
an hour away by car. Flights from the entire
country come through Reno daily. There is
a shuttle to all three Lake Tahoe destinations
from the airport and the usual variety of
rental agencies where you can get a car.
In winter months, go for a 4 wheel drive!
The
Truckee-Tahoe Airport is located on Highway
267 just 5 minutes from Truckee. It will
accommodate your plane easily and is equipped
with Unicom. Business jets fly in here regularly.
South
Lake Tahoe's airport is located minutes south
of the casinos on Lake Tahoe's South Shore.

What's Tahoe Weather Like?
In the
summer, we enjoy days that are usually warm
but never hot, with occasional afternoon
rain and cool clear nights. In the winter,
days are usually clear and sunny with an
occasional show storm that supplies us with
our famous Sierra snow. Gray overcast days
are an exception. Days are comfortable and
nights are cold.
If you're
new to the area, bring your warm winter clothing
and a pair of snow boots during cold weather.
In the summer, bring light clothing and a
light jacket for the evening.
When Does it Snow?
Snowstorms
in the summer rare, but don't be surprised
if you see one in June! The snow melts quickly
during summer, though. When selecting a neighborhood
for your Lake Tahoe real estaet, ask Patrick
about it's snow patterns.
